Psalm 146 Paraphrase

Praise God

Psalm 146
(Personal paraphrase)

PRAISE YE THE LORD!
PRAISE YE THE LORD!
Lift up your spirits
With one accord.
Neither seek worldly wisdom
Which passes to dust,
Nor hoard earthly treasures
That tarnish and rust,
And look not to men
For their paltry reward but
PRAISE YE THE LORD!
PRAISE YE THE LORD!

The Psalms (especially those of King David) were obviously written ‘from the heart’. Whether they express worship to God through joy and thanksgiving, or lament some sad or painful experience, the emotional honesty and vulnerability of the writer is apparent. Whenever I turn to the Scriptures for comfort, very often it is the raw reality of the Psalms which ministers most deeply to my heart-needs, and inspires my own poetic worship.
